Our rigid polypropylene cord with a paper core is developed for use as a handle in automatic paper bag production. The polypropylene cover provides strength and a textile finish with a standard knitted construction. The paper core gives the cord the body and firmness required for machine processing.
An alternative to twisted paper handles that enhances the bag’s presentation and offers customisation through a wide choice of colours. Supplied as continuous cord on industrial spools, ready to feed paper bag-making machinery.

Technical specifications

These polypropylene cords for bag handles have a round shape, a standard knitted construction and an approximate diameter of 4 mm.

• Strength from 25 to 90 kg, depending on the reference: Different strength levels are available for handle production, ranging from a minimum of 25 kg to values of 90 kg.
• Firmness for machine processing: The paper core helps the cord retain its shape during feeding and handle positioning.
• Low moisture absorption: The polypropylene cover absorbs very little water, an advantage for the outer surface of the handle.
• UV treatment: The polypropylene cover incorporates protection to improve its resistance to sunlight exposure.
• Machine use: Designed for automatic paper bag-making machines equipped for twisted paper handles.
• Uninterrupted production during spool changes: The special spool allows changes without stopping the machine.

We also manufacture polypropylene cords in custom colours, matched to Pantone references and available with low minimum order quantities. We develop bespoke projects, adapting the diameter, length and finish to each bag and manufacturing process.

Finishes and end fittings 

• Cut and pressed: Compresses and compacts the ends to prevent the cord from opening up or fraying. It also reduces their thickness to make insertion through the bag’s holes easier.
• Hot cutting: Cuts the cord to the required length and heat-seals the ends to prevent fraying during handling and assembly.

Delivery formats

We supply polypropylene cord on industrial spools, reels by the metre or cut-to-length pieces, depending on the manufacturing process.

• Special spools for automatic paper bag production: Designed to maintain the cord supply during spool changes.
• Spools without support tubes: The cord is wound without an internal support tube, creating a compact supply format.
• Spools with support tubes: The cord is wound around an internal tube that makes mounting on the spool holder easier.
• Reels by the metre: We supply standard knitted polypropylene cord on reels, in continuous lengths for controlled feeding and cutting during production.
